Spotify

ReleaseLoop uses the Spotify API to enrich your artist profiles with up-to-date photos, follower counts, and popularity metrics. No Spotify account connection is required — it works out of the box.

When you add or refresh an artist via Spotify:

  • Profile photo — automatically set as the artist’s avatar, so your roster looks polished without manual image uploads
  • Follower count — current Spotify followers, useful for tracking roster growth and pitching to press or playlist curators
  • Popularity score — Spotify’s 0-100 metric based on recent streaming activity, giving you a quick read on momentum
  • Spotify link — direct link to the artist’s Spotify profile

Search for an artist name during the “Add Artist” flow. Select the correct match from Spotify results and the profile photo, follower count, and popularity score are auto-populated. No copy-pasting from Spotify for Artists.

From the Artists page, use the Refresh from Spotify button to bulk-update all artists that have not been enriched yet. This is especially useful when you first set up ReleaseLoop and add your entire roster — enrich them all in one click.

From an artist’s detail page, go to the Discography tab and import their Spotify catalog to create release entries. This saves you from manually entering every past single, EP, and album — pull in the catalog and start tracking from there.

Unlike Google Drive, Spotify integration works automatically using Spotify’s public API. You do not need to connect a Spotify account or grant any permissions. It just works.

Artist data is fetched at the time of creation or refresh. Follower counts and popularity scores change constantly, so use the bulk refresh feature periodically — especially before pitching to press, curators, or potential collaborators where you want current numbers.
