Marketing Planner

The Marketing tab on a release is where you plan and coordinate your entire promotional campaign. From pitching Spotify editorial playlists weeks before drop day to posting performance recaps after release — every activity gets tracked in one place.

  1. Open a release and go to the Marketing tab
  2. Click Add Activity
  3. Fill in:
    • Title — what you are doing (e.g., “Pitch to Spotify editorial via Spotify for Artists,” “Post 30-second teaser clip on TikTok,” “Send album announcement to mailing list”)
    • Platform — where it will happen (Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, YouTube, Email, Press, etc.)
    • Phase — when in the release cycle: Pre-save, Release Week, or Post-Release
    • Status — Draft, Scheduled, Published, or Completed
    • Date — when the activity is planned

Marketing activities are organized into three phases that mirror how release campaigns actually work:

PhaseWhenWhat you are typically doing
Pre-save2-4 weeks before release daySetting up pre-save links, posting teaser content on Instagram and TikTok, pitching Spotify editorial playlists (must be done at least 7 days before release), sending announcements to your mailing list, reaching out to press and blogs
Release WeekThe week of releaseLaunch posts across all platforms, press release distribution, email blasts to fans, coordinating with the artist on Stories and live sessions, adding the track to your own playlists
Post-ReleaseAfter release daySharing streaming milestones, posting behind-the-scenes content, following up on playlist adds, running paid promotion if the track is gaining traction, planning remix or acoustic versions

ReleaseLoop supports tracking activities across all the channels you are likely working with:

  • Instagram
  • TikTok
  • Spotify
  • YouTube
  • X (Twitter)
  • Facebook
  • Email
  • Press / PR
  • Other

You can include marketing activities in release templates to reuse your promotional playbook across releases. When you apply a template, both tasks and marketing activities are imported — so your go-to rollout strategy is ready in seconds. This is especially valuable if you run a label releasing music regularly and want every campaign to hit the same baseline of promotional effort.

All marketing activities with dates appear on the Calendar view, giving you a timeline of promotional efforts across all your releases. This is critical when you have multiple releases in the pipeline — you can spot scheduling conflicts, avoid overlapping campaigns for artists on your roster, and make sure each release gets the attention it deserves.
